Long time Peggy Lillis Foundation (PLF) Advocate and Board member Christina Fuhrman and her daughter Pearl are both C. diff survivors.
Interviewed in early December by the Washington Post, Christina talks about how unnecessary antibiotics cause harm. She recalls her daughter’s struggle with an infection, as it placed her into such a dangerous illness at a very young and vulnerable age, “…Pearl, lying pale and listless in a hospital bed, tethered to an IV to keep her hydrated..”
As a C. diff patient, and as a caregiver for a family member with the disease, Christina reflects the growing concern about C. diff, superbugs, antibiotic resistance, and overuse. Strongly stated, “hospitals must do all they can to stop superbug infections..”
