The second annual Toss to Stop C. diff Loss was held on Saturday, May 30 at Savage Park in Maryland. Organized by the family of Judy Dexter, it is a lasting tribute to a beloved mother and grandmother who lost her fight against C. diff on May 30, 2013. Judy fought the disease for 6 months with courage, faith and a strong spirit. This year, the picnic raised over $10,000 to support the Peggy Lillis Foundation’s work!...Read More

The Peggy Lillis Foundation’s 5th Annual FIGHT C. DIFF Gala was our most successful to date. Held in the Grand Ballroom at Dyker Beach Golf Course on Friday, October 24th, FIGHT C. DIFF 2014 welcomed 225 supporters, patient safety advocates, corporate leaders and community members for an exciting evening which included honoring Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Dr. Bruce Hirsch and Dr. Gerard Honig, and the family of Judy Dexter, who lost her life to a C. diff infection in May 2013. Despite Hurricane Sandy nearly bringing the East Coast to a standstill, nearly 200 guests joined PLMF in honoring Dr. Martin Blaser, Chairman of NYU School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine. Dr. Blaser’s pioneering research into the role of the human microbiome (internal and external bacteria carried by all people) in a variety of different diseases, including obesity and H. Pylori. He has also been a vocal opponent of the overuse of antibiotics, which disrupt the optimal functioning of our bodies’ bacterial flora leading to a range of illnesses, including Clostridium difficile. PLF Co-founders Christian and Liam with Dr. Gorbach On Saturday, October 22, the foundation held its second fundraiser, FIGHT C. DIFF, at Aviator Sports & Recreation in Brooklyn, NY. The event was an enormous success with more than 250 guests and raising more than $38,000. In addition to premiering our Public Service Announcement, the evening honored Dr. Sherwood L. Gorbach, the Chief Scientific Officer of Optimer Pharmaceuticals, which brought the first new C. diff drug in 25 years to market earlier this year. On October 29, 2010, more than 250 guests attended the first-annual Celebrating Peggy’s Life dinner at Aviator Sports & Events in Brooklyn, New York. The evening featured speeches from the foundation’s co-founders, Christian John Lillis and Liam James Lillis; remembrances of Peggy from her oldest friend, Donna Rea, and her brother, Thomas Daly; a video tribute to Peggy; and an educational talk by Dr. Denice Hilty of Transformational Healthcare.
