Teresa’s story also speaks to a range of problems in our healthcare system, some related to C. diff and some not. She battled C. diff and a range of chronic conditions from being overweight to being diabetic for more than 18 months. Teresa was treated by Metronidazole for several months before being put on Vancomycin. She was subjected to three surgical procedures in the last weeks of her life. Her children are still unclear as to the exact causes of their mother’s physical decline in the last year and a half of her life.
